Kendrick Perkins has made a tough call to choose the best NBA champion.

Over the years, the NBA has seen many teams lift the glorious Larry O’Brien Trophy and be etched forever into league history as the perfect team for that season.

But even among them there are several versions of the team that are considered crop cream. Obviously, they’re always arguing for the best NBA teams to win it all.

With that in mind, NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins recently took on the Herculean job of choosing one team that stood out against him.

Initially, Big Perk selected brackets for the eight NBA champions who filed the lawsuit for this debate. The list includes:

  • 1996 Chicago Bulls
  • 2013 Miami Heat
  • 2017 Golden State Warriors
  • 2008 Boston Celtics
  • 2004 Detroit Pistons
  • 2003 San Antonio Spars
  • 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers
  • 2001 Los Angeles Lakers

All eight teams have an incredible case of being considered the NBA Championship winner. Whether it’s LeBron James’ Cavs or Stephen Curry’s Warrior.

However, Perkins’ final two featured Michael Jordan’s ’96 Bulls and Kobe Bryant’s ’01 La Lakers. It’s surprising because Big Perk didn’t choose his ’08 Celtics because he was a member of that team.

After much discussion, ESPN analysts settled down for the 1996 Bulls as the greatest NBA champion of all time. He provided an explanation about it.

“I’m going with the Bulls in 1996. We’re talking about Scotty Pippen and Jordan. We’re talking about people who do it at a high level.

“Scotty and Jordan got six. I chose that.”

Even if the relationship between Scotty Pippen and Michael Jordan has become sour over the years, Perkins cannot ignore what they have achieved together as a teammate.

They won six NBA titles together, but the 1996 championship remains special. The Bulls were 72-10 in the regular season, and MJ led the team to a famous victory in his first full season after a brief retirement.
