Former UFC Star Cain Velasquez Setenced to 5 Years in Prison
SHARE

Cain Velazquez was sentenced to five years in prison.

On Monday, Velazquez returned to Santa Clara County Superior Court, where Judge Arthur Bocanegra informed the prison sentence arising from the shooting where the MMA star was charged with felony assault, gun charges and the most serious attempted murder. The prosecution wanted a 25-year life.

Ian Cal of @nbcbayarea reported the verdict first.

When he was arrested shortly after the February 2022 incident, Velazquez spent eight months behind the bar. Multiple bail requests were denied until Judge Bocanegra granted him release on a $1 million bond in November.

Since then, Velazquez has worked and lived a life as a beloved member of his community. Unfortunately, that’s not the case anymore.

Cain Velazquez tries to shoot a man who allegedly abused his son.

Prosecutors said the former UFC champion targeted and shot a man who was allegedly abused one of Velazquez’s young children at a daycare center. Harry Goallete, the child molestation of the accused, lived in the childcare center at Patty, San Martin’s mother’s home nursery.

Velazquez was accused of putting the law into his own hands on February 28, 2022, by prosecutor, when he chased a Goallete pickup truck and drove 100 mph from Morgan Hill to San Jose.

Velazquez, 42, of Gilroy, sued “no contest” in an attempted murder last summer.

Judge Benjamin Williams gave Guralte the jury date, June 2nd, January. He faces a count of felony threading conduct with a minor after being accused of abusing Velázquez’s 4-year-old son.

Since his arrest in 2022, Goularte has been released on bail on GPS monitoring.
