Manchester United could face tough decisions this summer as the future of rising star Cobby Mineau remains uncertain.
Despite continuing contract negotiations since March 2024, the men reported that the two have not yet reached an agreement.
In fact, the outlet says there is a real chance that Mainoo could move unless a compromise is found. While many fans hope he will stay, some believe a fresh start might be the best for both the player and the club. Man United reportedly is considering winning cash in the midfielder, with a potential price tag of around £70 million.

Mainoo has struggled to find a position that has been established under the manager of Ruben Amorim, who used him in various roles this season. The 19-year-old was deployed as part of the mid-pivot, as No. 10, and even as a makeshift striker against Crystal Palace earlier this year.
Amorim hints that Mainoo can have a long-term position in his system as an offensive midfielder, but that means competing for a few minutes with Alejandro Garnacho, Amad, Joshua Zirkzee, Mason Mount and others.
Financial factors playing for the Red Devils in front of the summer window
Man United’s financial situation could also affect the decision. Academy alumni like Mainoo represent pure profits on the balance sheet, as clubs need to comply with the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
That economic reality may push the club to sell talented young people, even if it proves unpopular among its supporters.
Born in Stockport and developed through Man United’s Academy, Mainoo was the 2023/24 breakout season. He became an important player for Erik Ten Hag, but then slowly lost importance.
