One area Manchester United struggles with the depth of this season is at centre forward. After lending Marcus Rashford, Reuben Amorim is limited to three actual options up front.

One of them, Joshua Zirque, has been excellent at No. 10 recently. The Dutch showcases elite technical skills, and his performance in that deep role could make Amorim reluctant to put him on top.

That leaves Danish duo Rasmus Hojlund and 17-year-old Chido Obi as two players tasked with leading the line. Hojlund’s goalscoring form execution was lean, but he currently has two goals in three games: club and country. Obi is an exciting talent, but still inexperienced.

So it may not be surprising that United are targeting new strikers before the summer window.

Man United’s hope to sign a new striker

One of the strikers that many European clubs are likely to want this summer is FC Portostar’s Sam Agehahoe.

The Spaniards made a big impression on the term in Portugal and are now targeted by some of Europe’s largest clubs.

Transfer focus

Mega Money deals, controversial moves, famous flops. This is the home of transfer news and opinions across Football FanCust.

Certainly, one of those sides is the 13-time Premier League champion, according to a report from Cated Offside. The report suggests that Amorim is a huge fan of the centre, and is believed to be “driven” the interest of Agehahoe’s “Red Devils.”

But they are not alone in pursuing Spanish strikers this summer. La Liga Giants FC Barcelona is highly interested, and Lamine Yamal is “understanding that he is “personally pushing” the club to sign a Spanish teammate.

Germany’s Giants Bayern Munich and United Premier League rivals West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are also considered interested in the deal. Regarding paid, Aghehowa reportedly has a £84 million release clause in its contract.

Why Aghehowa is a good signing

What a great debut season for Aghehowa as a player for Drago. The 20-year-old is on fire, scoring 21 goals in all competitions, chipping in with three assists in between.

United knows how dangerous it is for a 2024 Olympic gold medalist to be in front of the finish line. Two of his six Europa League strikes opposed the Red Devils in October in a game that ended 3-3 thanks to Harry Maguire’s final gas equalizer in October.

Football talent scout Jace Krigg described Swallowtail as a “making monster.” He has all sorts of important traits he wants from a top striker. As he showed to United, he was quick, physical and intellectual in front of the goal.

Young attackers can acquire all sorts of goals. This is a hallmark of all good strikers. Please take this strike as Rome in the Europa League as well. His control to defeat the ball and his calm to perform overhead kicks are none other than anyone.

Samu could be a dream replacement for Viktor Gyokeres this season. It seemed like Reuben Amorim might try to take the Swedes to Old Trafford in the sport, but Athletic recently reported that Arsenal is highly interested in the former Coventry City star.

The Gyokeres are even more prolific than the Portuguese Portostar this season, scoring 42 times in 42 games for the Lisbon Club and grabbing 11 assists. This includes 30 goals in 26 games on Portugal’s top flight.

Despite the differences in target numbers, the pairs remain comparable and have similarities via FBREF.

For example, Aghehowa averages 0.54 goals with a goal creation action of 0.54 on target and 0.12 on target, compared to 0.35 goals per shot and 0.15 goal creation action of 90 minutes on target. However, the former is a much bigger threat to the air.

The deal to sign Aghehowa is expensive for Red Devils and shy for just £100 million. But it may be the investment they need to make to compensate for Hojlund, Zirkzee and Obi’s goals.

If they missed Gyoker this summer, Aghehowa is probably the perfect alternative to help take Amorim’s side to the next level.
