Chris Paul’s recent comments about his future in the NBA contradicted the predictions of ESPN analyst Brian Windhorst.

San Antonio Spurs star Chris Paul is currently playing in his 20th season of his NBA career. CP3 no longer was he the former star, but he remains a key veteran for the Spurs.

Given that he averages all career low numbers across the board, many speculate whether this is the last time.

In fact, ESPN analyst Brian Windhorst recently predicted that Paul could move into a coaching role after completing his one-year, $10.4 million contract with the Spurs.

Even after 20 years in the league, Paul still hasn’t gotten the glorious Larry O’Brien Trophy. Is this Paul’s final dance, as the Spurs are set to miss the postseason?

“He has all the options at the table. The Spurs want to get him back. I think he can sign with another team. I think he can go coaching in the league next year,” Windhorst said.

He added: “I think he can be in the studio with us.

CP3 is one of the most talented point guards he’s played in the NBA. But soon, when he turns 40, Windy’s Paul’s ratings are less surprising.

“I think he’ll be able to coach in the league next year, but knowing Chris Paul would make him want to go on that court.” 😤 @windhorstespn Will Chris Paul return for his 21st NBA season? pic.twitter.com/luhvyq4ieq

Just hours after Windhorst questioned Paul’s future in the NBA, the veteran guard suggested he’ll return to the league next season.

in Interview with NBA Insider Mark J. SpearsPaul said: “I’ll be 40 in May. So, yeah, I think I’ll continue to play. At the end of each season, I rate everything. I rate the performance. I rate the way my body feels.”

“But as it goes, it’s more of a conversation with my family, my kids. They’re saying a lot. They got a lot of opinions,” Paul concluded.

Paul averages 8.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 7.6 assists per game, but the Spurs don’t really miss his presence on the court.

But if he decides to retire, what they missed is his leadership that helps Victor Wenbanyama and De Aaron Fox Gel come together as a dynamic duo.

On top of that, Paul’s durability this season has been overlooked by many as he has played all 76 possible games for the Spurs so far.
