The behind-the-scenes conflict for control of the Minnesota Timberwolves is finally over.
Their run has featured major news for the Minnesota Timberwolves as they continue to fight for postseason spots within the highly competitive Western Conference.
After years of fighting, T-Wolves and WNBA Minnesota Links are now officially under the hands of Markroa and Alex Rodriguez after it was reported that Glen Taylor ultimately decided to transfer full ownership of the franchise for $1.5 billion.
Last year, both sides were set up for legal battles related to payments. Recently, arbitration took place when the two finally won the lawsuit and the longtime governor was ordered to abandon the franchise.
This development around Minnesota has led to all eyes looking at Kevin Garnett.
2003-04 The NBA MVP is considered the biggest Timberwolvester of all time, and has deep hostility towards Taylor, resulting from the promised front office role in retirement and the perceived betrayal of the late franchise coach Flip Sanders not being properly honored.
Of these, Garnet refused to raise Jersey No. 21 on the rafters at the Target Center.
The past whispers were able to take on lore and Rodriguez ultimately as the latest majority owner of the wolves, allowing Garnet to go his way now to gain recognition, including positions in Minnesota.
And in the latest episode of a KG certified podcast with Paul Pierce, Garnett responds to a recent update on Timberwolves ownership and shows his heart.
“I don’t know. I spoke with (Lore) and (Rodriguez) before.
And on the role of potential basketball operations, Garnett said: “I’m not in that space. If I’m honest, I’m trapped in something else…it’s just cool, but I’m not in that space now. I’m doing something else now.
“I don’t know if I can even dedicate my time to something like the NBA. You know. What I’m saying is that the NBA is everyday and they need you every day. I don’t have time to become everyday.”
Since retiring in 2016, Garnett has maintained his support for the Timberwolves and has expressed his views on the Ball Club, including the town of Karl Anthony and their decision to create a massive trade for Julius Randle.
He is proud to be part of T-Wolf’s history, but the Hall of Fame informed him that he doesn’t want to relate anything to the franchise he is involved with.
However, with Taylor planning on leaving the Timberwolves franchise, Garnett plans to do something bigger as his homecoming to the Twin City is tied to reality.
“I want to,” Garnett said of his huge influence in Minnesota. “What I want is to be on the same page, but do you know what I’m saying? I want to be on the same page. Many of the concerns I have, or some of the things I actually want to grow and grow in Minnesota have nothing to do with the courts.
“It’s kind of like bringing the community, bondage and city back together. I want everyone to come back and touch and get excited by the Timberwolves, twins, the Vikings, the Wild, the University of Minnesota, the Gophers and more.
“I’m working on that. So if they want to do something like that, I’m with it. I’m everything for that. But I’m building something and being locked up in something.”
Regardless of what’s next in the franchise, we can wait for the day that Garnett will eventually return and see his No. 21 be immortalized by the Timberwolves.
