Joe Pyfer vs. Kelvin Gastelum Rebooked for UFC 316 in New Jersey

Joe Pyfer vs. Kelvin Gastelum received a new date.

The middleweight conflict was originally scheduled to be arriving in Mexico City on March 29th. Unfortunately, the fight after Pyfer got sick was last minute. Almost a week later, it turns out that the UFC 316 fight was rescheduled on June 7th.

Pyfer head coach John Marquez broke the news while appearing at MMA today.

“We’re breaking news at MMA today.”

Joe Pyfer will not return to Mexico

Pyfer ultimately denounced Mexico for its withdrawal from previously scheduled scrap and the “sh*t-hole” country, which suffered from food poisoning.

“I don’t care if it’s uncomfortable for you or not. I’ll never go back to that country,” Pyfer said in his Instagram story. “I did everything right. I slept in the tent. I still did all this work to get sick.

“Some people say I’m not food, I have altitude sickness. I’m not a geographical geographical elevation f*cking scientist, but as long as I’m adapted, I slept in my tent for two months.

Because of its value, Marquez claimed that Piffer lost 12 pounds during his illness.

Gastherm won a unanimous decision victory over Daniel Rodriguez in June last year. The one-time interim title challenger won two of his final three within the Octagon, including a victory over Chris Curtis in 2023.

Pyfer returns to the cage with a solid 4-1 record under the UFC banner, including a malicious 85-second knockout via Marc-André Barrault at UFC 303. Before that, he won consecutive first round KOs from Allen Amedovsky and Gerald Mershaert, then submitted to Abdul Razak Alhassan.
