Manchester United manager Reuben Amorim has revealed that he sees talented young duo Coby Meine and Joshua Zilky as players who can improve.
Mainoo went into the first team scene last season for The Man UTD, establishing himself as one of the most promising talents in the country.
The 19-year-old’s great form won him a place with the UK Euro 2024 team, but Amorim still seems to feel that he is an ongoing job.
The Portuguese tactician also says there is something to come from Zirky, despite showing signs of improvement as the season progresses.
Dutch International joined United from Bologna last summer, giving it a slow start to life at Old Trafford.
Amorim is happy with how Jilky is doing now, but he claims that the 23-year-old is still selfish when playing as a striker.
Reuben Amorim’s message to Cobby Mine and Joshua Zirkusy
“When I see Cobby, I see a lot of talent. But how to see it — and I might be wrong, but I see what Cobby has to improve,” Amorim said at a press conference cited by Metro.
“He’s the pace of his game. He needs to improve in his buildup. There’s a lot of talent near the box, so I think he played a really good game in the Europa League in that position.
“But I’m not looking at a full player at the moment. He’s 19. If you say you’ve seen the final player, I don’t think I’m helping Cobby.”
On Zirkzee, he added:
“He’s not a typical striker, but he has to be more selfish. He’s more aggressive now, he’s working better now, he’s defending better now, he’s connected very well.
“He played as a striker against Arsenal and he did really, really well. In his game against Sociedad, he played more as No. 10. He’s improved and shows good.”
