Arsenal is interested in signing Espanyol goalkeeper João Garcia at the end of the season and will face competition between Real Madrid and Manchester City.
According to a report from La Grada Online, Arsenal hopes to sign the 23-year-old this summer, with the player having a release clause of 25 million euros on the contract. They could use high quality backup goalkeepers and Garcia could compete with David Raya at the starting spot next season.
Spanish International was able to ultimately establish themselves as the goalkeeper of Arsenal’s first choice if they joined the club. He has proven himself in Laliga and has stood out for Espanyol this season. Garcia has the most saves in La Liga this season.
He helped Spain win gold medals at the 2024 Olympics. He has no doubt the qualities to thrive in the Premier League. He can become an important player for Arsenal in the long run. The reported asking price also appears to be very reasonable.
Arsenal is one of the largest clubs in the world, and the opportunity to join them is extremely exciting for the Spaniards. He could be drawn to the possibility of playing in the Premier League next season. It will be interesting to see if Arsenal moves forward with an official offer to sign him.
Real Madrid can use Joan Garcia
Real Madrid, on the other hand, can also use high quality backup goalkeepers. Thibaut Courtois is in the Twilight stage of his career, and Real Madrid must plan his future. Garcia could be the ideal long-term alternative to the Belgian international.
The opportunity to play for Real Madrid can be difficult for any player to refuse. By participating in them, he can continue in his hometown. It’s not yet known where he will end.
