Porsche has announced that it will introduce an updated version of the GT3 Contender in 2026.

The Type-992 Porsche 911 GT3 3 made its competitive debut in 2023, with huge success in various championships, winning class titles at WEC and IMSA, and overall championships at DTM.

Three seasons later, the 911 GT3 will receive mid-cycle updates next year, with the updates focusing primarily on improving the driving performance of the car.

Porsche said it has corrected the aerodynamic components to reduce pitch sensitivity and improved the car’s front-end operation in both braking and acceleration.

The steering system and software that powers the vehicle has been further improved.

As part of the development program, Porsche will run the EVO-SPEC 911 in racing conditions for the first time this weekend in the round of the 24-hour series of Michelin 12H Spa Franco Champion Clevintic.

The car will be entered by customer team Harbors Motorsports and share driving duties with IMSA GTD Pro champion Laurin Heinrich and fellow Germans Ralf Bohn and Alfred Renauer in the 24-hour enduro.

“The Crevintic Series provides an ideal environment for such important tests. The competition features a large number of private teams racing at high levels. There are plenty of track times and the Spa Franco Champ Circuit presents a frightening challenge for both drivers and cars.

“As a longtime Porsche customer team, Herberth Motorsport can provide valuable feedback on vehicle handling, serviceability, ergonomics and operational capabilities. We also want to hear the impressions of our drivers.”

The updated 911 will be available to customers ahead of the 2026 season.
