Tyron Woodley once took some public shots with Dana White without realizing his boss.
In September 2018, Woodley was refreshing from his Doren-grade title defense against Darren at UFC 228.
After Woodley’s victory over Demian Maia at UFC 214, White was critical of the lack of action and held Woodley accountable for not finishing the fight. This has led Woodley to include White’s special message in his debut rap single. I’ll hit my buttreleased shortly after his battle with Till.

Woodley ruled as the UFC welterweight champion from 2016 to 2019. During his run at the top, he rarely hides his frustration at his desire to fight older well-known fighters like Georges Saint-Pierre and Nick Diaz, regardless of how the organization promoted him, and their retirement status.
From Woodley’s perspective, he made the most of the leverage he had, and the UFC didn’t appreciate his negotiation tactics.
“They feel like they felt, ‘This mother-f*cker thinks he’s too smart,'” Woodley said. “That’s what I always felt, but I don’t make a fool of myself for anyone. I know everyone’s numbers. When you know you’re a fighter and you’re everyone, I go differently to the negotiation table.
“So when I fought the Robbie (Roller), you have to realize that the Robbie is the top team in America, he was managed by Dan Lambert. So I know a lot of negotiations to fight me.
Woodley defeated Roller in UFC 201 via a first round knockout to become the welterweight champion. He continued to defend the title against Till, Maia and Stephen Thompson (because of the first fight that ends in a majority draw).
According to Woodley, it was not part of the UFC’s plan. He claims he was trying to reserve a roller against St. Pierre or Conor McGregor if an official defeated Woodley in UFC 201. Woodley threw a wrench at those plans and was disappointed that he was not given the same opportunity that Roller was given later.
“The lifts started earlier, but the big rift in the power conflict is knowing what he was offered,” Woodley said. “This is the NCAA tournament, and if he’s the first species and I beat the first species, I’m the first species. I want everything he was trying to get. I want everything you talked about.
