COCONUT CREEK, Fla. — Grant Dawson doubles his stance against Michael Chandler in the UFC’s lightweight rankings.
Dawson (23-2-1 MMA, 11-1-1 UFC) repeated his position, not thinking that Chandler deserves ranking after Chandler ended up being Paddy Pinblett in Saturday’s UFC 314 co-main event in Miami.
Chandler (23-10 MMA, 2-5 UFC) has now lost three games to lose a skid, losing five of his past six.
“I’ve been calling for Chandler for years,” Dawson told MMA Junkie. “I always thought Chandler wasn’t worthy of being in the top 15. He’s 2-5 now. In the UFC, all good guys, but we’re all fighting good guys.
Dawson admits that Pinblett ruled Chandler and then he far surpassed his expectations after stopping him with a TKO in the third round.
“I thought he looked great, I thought he looked a lot better,” Dawson said of Pinblett. “From the first day I was picking up rice fields to defeat Michael Chandler, but I didn’t think he would do that. After thinking that Michael Chandler would win the entire battle, I found a way to lose by doing what Michael Chandler does. But no, he kicked the ass.
