Liverpool could be the Premier League champion this weekend, but if the results are on the way, could everything be done and dusted by Sunday evening?

Arne Slot’s side will win Leicester City at King Power Stadium in a game that they are expected to win easily given the disastrous shape of the Foxes later this season.

And you’re sure to wonder how you’ll buy tickets for Leicester vs Liverpool in the hopes of being able to participate in the game they confirm as champions.

It needs more than a victory at Leicester, but the Reds also need a final big slip-up from title rival Arsenal.

The gunners are basically already out of the title race, but at least they can delay the Liverpool celebration a few more days.

But a loss to Ipswichtown early on Sunday afternoon means that the LFC victory is enough to mathematically end the title race.

Liverpool is set to be selected as the 20th champion

I’ve known for a while that Liverpool will be the champion this season, even if it wasn’t this weekend.

This will level Manchester United as the two most league-winning teams in the history of British football.

Jurgen Klopp has provided the latest in its slightly strange 2019/20 season, disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic. This means that fans couldn’t see the team lifting the trophy.

They had to wait just five years for the next one.

Still, given that fans were unable to attend games during the pandemic, this weekend could be a special moment for anyone traveling to watch the game at King Power Stadium, ending 35 years of watching the Merseyside giants win the league in physical form.

Even if it wasn’t this weekend, Liverpool will still be taking the title, requiring just six points from the remaining six fixtures.
