If Kelleher departs, the new Liverpool Eye backup goalkeeper
According to German Outlet Sports Build, as van Dyck is violating his future for the Reds, Liverpool is interested in signing goalkeeper Moritz Nicholas from Borussia Menchenradbach, desperate to raise money.
The report states that Nicholas is of interest from the UK, particularly Liverpool. That’s because Fabian Otte, the current head of goalkeeper coaching for the first team, has previously worked with Nicholas and may be lined up for a move to Anfield to enhance options between the sticks.
The Reds plan to make an instant move for the shot stopper, and Mönchengladbach is desperate for cash to balance the book, so a proper offer can be seen as this deal accelerates. Nicholas has a market value of just 5 million euros, which is about 4 million pounds.
The report adds that the 27-year-old is seeking one last big deal in his career, but perhaps worrying, Nicholas is statistically similar to Man United’s Onana. The pair has similar passed numbers, sharing a poor record of penalty savings, placing the Manchester United’s keeper second in FBREF’s “similar players” tool.
