The former boss of Ferrari Fernando Alonso is “sad” to see a legendary driver suffer in a struggling car.

It’s a shame Alonso’s start in the F1 2025 season with Aston Martin.

He has yet to score points after three rounds heading for the F1 Saudi Arabia Grand Prix this weekend.

He’s far from Fernando Alonso, who drove a Ferrari under the stewardship of Luca Cordero di Montezemoro.

Montezemelo was President Ferrari during Alonso’s era in the famous red car from 2011-2014.

Alonso was unable to add to the two F1 drivers’ championships that won the Renault, finishing the season twice as runner-up.

But that’s far from his uncompetitive start to this season.

“Fernando…car…sad for a driver like Fernando,” Montezemelo told Dazen.

“At the end of his career in such an uncompetitive car, it is truly sad.

“It will be difficult this year, but it is difficult, but I hope Fernando may be his last in Formula 1 next year.

The Alonso is already the oldest driver on the 43 F1 grid.

He is on a contract with Aston Martin until the end of 2026, but the beginning of next year should mark the start of a new dawn for the team.

Adrian Newey began working in March this year as a new managing technology partner, a huge coup to attract Red Bull.

The best car designers of F1 History’s attention are not in the 2025 cars that Alonso has not yet scored points.

Newey’s time has already been fully spent developing the first ’26 Aston Martin of the new regulations.

A fresh set of rules for next year is an opportunity for all teams to burst out of the trap and build a dominant period.

Violent rumours within the Formula 1 paddock suggest that Aston Martin will be in the position of pole signing Max Verstappen if the driver champion chooses to quit Red Bull.

However, Alonso shot down these rumors and rejected the possibility that Verstappen would arrive.
