It appears that Mark Marquez is constantly studying data from specific MotoGP riders before it bursts into the scene.
Young Mark Marquez was a budding star with a 125cc and Moto2-level world title for just three seasons.
He was planning to step into Motogpu with Casey Stoner with Honda before his early retirement of legend.
Marquez is claimed to be obsessed with incredible stoner data and developed a riding style inspired by him.
“I’m (Stoner) in the 250cc and I just crash, faster, crash. He refused that the bike didn’t work,” Scott Reading told the Motorsports Republic Podcast.
“Mark is the same. Mark learned from Casey. Mark saw Casey’s data.
“From what I’ve heard, Mark was like “stoner, stoner, stoner”…
“Now Mark rides like Stoner. How he turns his bike, like Turn 3 on Philip Island. I’m sure he’s studied it for months.
“If I put both in a black suit, I would be able to (can tell them away), but that would be pretty difficult.
“They ride, he picks up the bike, how he attacks the horns, these details. It’s like Stoner’s Junior.
“That’s why Mark crashed so badly because he wanted to win, and that’s the mentality aspect.”
Casey Stoner can “ride any bike”
Stoner retired early with two MotoGP championships under his belt for Ducati and Honda.
Marquez has won his first world title in Ducati colour after Stoner’s heyday at Honda after his retirement.
Marquez is already probably arguably better than Stoner and other MotoGP riders in the eyes of many experts.
But the Stoner who came before him to a generation remains haunted by his brilliance.
“It wasn’t important to him (the bike he was riding),” Reading said.
“Most riders, including myself, thought I could ride any bike. It showed up at BMW!
“I can’t ride that type of bike, I thought I could, but I can’t.
“He? What kind of bike can he ride?”
