Fernando Alonso said Gabriel Boltreto, part of the Spanish management, would be punished for a near-miss at the F1 Saudi Arabia Grand Prix.
Alonso almost got pushed into the wall with a one-turn approach while Voltoreto was fighting Liam Lawson.
All three drivers were outside the top 10 at the time.
Luckily, Alonso left the incident unharmed.
It would have been a troublesome flight back home, especially as the bolt rate is part of the A14 management. This is owned by Alonso.
After the race, Alonso spoke about his incident with Boltreto: “No, we’re going back home now and flying together.
“I was surprised. I was the last thing you want, but I almost crashed, but he didn’t see me. So I had to avoid the horns. And I didn’t want to be punished, so I returned the position right away.
“But nothing has changed in the race. We both struggle at the moment.”
It was a disappointing race for both Saudi Arabian drivers.
Alonso finished 11th just outside the point, with Boltreto overtaken on the final lap of Jack Doohan.
Aston Martin’s difficult 2025 continues
Alonso failed to score points in the opening five races amid Aston Martin’s tough start to the year.
Teammate Lance Stroll has 10 points in his name, but the majority of his haul came during the chaotic Australian Grand Prix.
Looking back at his race, Alonso added:
“But, as I said in Japan, if they disqualify a few guys, we’ll get some points. We almost crashed at the boltreto. I chose the outer line, which was a bit dangerous and he clearly didn’t see me.
“Fortunately, we both got closer to the wall and then I had to cut Turn 1 and get back to the spot. Luckily, nothing happened to either of us. That’s not a big deal. These things happen.
“We gave it everything. It’s always in the DNA. It doesn’t matter if you’re fighting for a championship, a podium or a P14. Just like the race that decides a world championship, you’re guaranteed to give 100% at all times.
“Performing a 50 qualifying lap will tire you out, but I don’t know how to race in any other way.”
