Chelsea have once again a busy summer transfer window to strengthen their team.
Enzo Maresca made prominent signatures for Pedro Neto, Joao Felix and Jadon Sancho at the transfer window last summer.
The Blues have made an impressive start to the season, but since the start of this year, they have not been able to meet their potential and are currently fighting to finish in the top four of the Premier League and compete in the Champions League next season.
The Premier League Giants have reached the UEFA Conference League semi-finals this season, but most of the teams in that contest are below the level of the London Club.
One area Maresca is interested in improving is his goalkeeping position after Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez made several notable errors this season.
According to TeamTalk, Chelsea reignited the pursuit of FC Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa.
The 25-year-old Portugal International is on the Chelsea radar and the club has previously taken an approach that it hadn’t come to fruition last summer.
Currently, due to the uncertainty surrounding current goalkeeping options, the Bruce is keen to secure Costa’s service.
Costa’s consistent display earned him praise, including being named the goalkeeper for the season’s Primira Liga.
Chelsea faces competition to sign a 25-year-old goalkeeper
Chelsea’s renewed interest comes even in competition with other European giants.
Manchester United and Manchester City are also linked to Costa, and he sees it as a potential long-term solution between the posts.
Porto recognizes growing interest in their valuable assets and has set a release clause of 75 million euros (£64.5 million) for Costa.
It may not be easy for the Blues to sign Portugal’s international goalkeeper, but if he can beat his Premier League rival and sign him, it would be a big statement of intention from Maresca’s team.
Chelsea is also competing with United to sign Ipswich town attacker Liam Dellup.
