Journalist Florian Plettenberg is offering an interesting update on Dean Huijsen’s transfer status as he is gaining interest from many top clubs.
The talented young Bournemouth defender has established himself as one of the best players outside the Premier League’s established big six with some great displays this season.
Huijsen has been linked to Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and others by independence and others for some time, and Plettenberg has posted on X about his release clause.
See below. It appears the club has been informed that they can pay Huijsen terms in three installments.
Huijsen already looked like a bargain at that price, but the fact that you usually have to pay the release clause at once makes them a bit more difficult.
The club is certainly making use of this contractual agreement and it will be interesting to see where Huijsen ends.
Who needs Dean Huijsen’s signature most?
Huijsen doesn’t look like an immediate signed Arsenal needs, even if more depth is always useful. Perhaps there is something to think about Jakub Kiwior’s future this summer.
Still, I imagine that it would be very difficult to kick William Saliba and Gabriel Magalges out of Mikel Arteta’s starting lineup, so Fuizen might find a good warming of the bench, so he’ll steal the gamble moving to Emirates Stadium.
Liverpool could probably give Huizen a more important role, as aging Virgil van Dykes can’t play 90 minutes every few days that long.
Chelsea also looks like the 20-year-old will be a major upgrade to Levi Colwill, Tosin Adalabioyo, Benoit Badiaser and injured Wesley Fofana, so they can certainly give Huizen a regular starting spot.
But Liverpool will probably be a better project. They are looking to go to a place under Arne Slot as they are about to win a Premier League title, while Chelsea are fighting just to enter the top four again.
