Another crash of Joan Mir at the MotoGP Spain Grand Prix had at least a “positive point” that Spanish riders wanted to concentrate on.

Mir was battling Franco Morbidelli in sixth place when he fell on Turn 6. The fourth DNF of the five races means the statistics are bad for MIR, but the appearance of the Q2 at the Grand Prix and the top six competition still improves with the RC213V.

“We have to see the positive points from today and the speed we’ve been able to show off throughout the weekend,” Honda HRC Castrol Rider said after the Spanish Grand Prix.

“I was able to get faster, but I wasn’t riding exactly comfortably.

“I saw him get faster and I walked past Morbidelli. I tried to chase him and escape from the other riders, but he was struggling and I was with him.

“From today we need to analyze everything. If we had eight or nine laps, it could have been there if it was a really great weekend for us.

“But we need to finish. Now we switch focus and look to Monday and the future.”

Luca Marini wasn’t as fast as Mir, but finished 10th in the top 10 for the third time.

“Good days, especially looking at how difficult this weekend is for me, a good weekend,” Marini summed up.

“I think we achieved the best possible results today. I’m very pleased with this and what we did. Every day we were able to improve our bikes and take a good step with our team.

“We had a good pace. We had some good fights. The 10th is fine where we are. I’m excited to find something positive and new tomorrow.”
