Virna Jandiroba surpassed Yan Xiaonan with excellent grappling and became the strawweight ranked number one in the UFC.
The former Invicta FC champion is currently riding his five straight wins coming out of UFC 314 on April 12th. Brazilian talent hasn’t seen any other scenarios next, except for a clash with the 115-pound Zhang Weili.
“If it’s not now, honestly… there’s nothing to do,” Jandirova told MMA Fighting. “I think (I’m next). No doubt. It won the longest on the straw weight, five in a row, nothing in a row. I fought every fight the UFC asked me, and I became patient. Tatiana (the battle of Suarez) fell and she went to the belt.
Zhang told MMA Fighting before his latest victory over Tatiana Suarez that he was interested in moving to flyweight to challenge UFC Queen Valentina Shevchenko. Now, with “Bullet” scheduled to face Manon Fiorot on May 10th, Jandirova feels solid in her position.
“That’s the scenario, and to be honest, I’m very relaxed,” Jandirova said. “It’s the fact that I’m next. There’s nothing else to do. I was fighting another. I wasn’t sitting and waiting. I fought Yang Xiaan. Now I was the first candidate.
Chang has only protected the belt once a year since winning. Jandilova has no problem waiting as long as it is necessary to get a crack in the gold.
“I like to train long camps to evolve and use my time as an advantage,” Jandirova said. “It’s up to the UFC now.”
The Chinese champions never lost by submissions in the MMA and finished 6-1 in the UFC title match. Jandirova used Jiu-Jitsu to win 14 of 22 professional victories and vowed to be ready for five rounds of war if necessary.
“She’s a powerful athlete,” Jandirova said of Chan. “I have to make adjustments to face her in five rounds. It’s five rounds so I have to adapt my strategy. I’ve already been fighting five rounds in Invicta, and I’ve been training for that.
