The Delhi Capitals have signed up for Afghan batsman Sedikula Atar to replace England’s Harry Brook, the franchise announced on Wednesday (May 7).
For the second year in a row, Brooke was drawn from the IPL, citing personal reasons. The Delhi Capitals signed him at the final mega auction at 6.25 crores.

After withdrawing from the IPL, the BCCI banned him from the IPL for two years.

In the wake of the incident, BCCI has issued new guidelines for players’ decisions to withdraw from the IPL at the very end, saying: “After you sign up for an auction and are selected, you will no longer be able to use yourself before you are banned from participating in two seasons of tournaments and player auctions before the start of the season.” The rules state.

Sedicra Atal replaces Harry Brook:
Although Harry Brook got out of the tournament even before he started the tournament, the Delhi Capitals signed up for Sedikula Atar after playing 11 games. The highly rated Afghan top batsman has played 49 T20s so far, earning 1507 runs on average on 34, including 13 half-century.
Sedikula Atal first got into the spotlight in 2023 when he hit 48 players in the Kabul Premier League. He scored 118 runs from 56 balls during the innings. He also won a century in the tournament finals.
Last year, Sediqullah Atal starred in Batt, helping Afghanistan win the ACC Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup. He finished the tournament as the best run-scholar, earning 368 runs in five matches.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Capitals are competing for the playoffs this season. They are currently in the fifth spot in the points table with six wins from 11 games. Their next game will face the King of Punjab on May 8th.
