Charles Berkley resonates with Kevin Durant’s NBA career, comparing it to his own journey in the league.
Kevin Durant is one of the most notable superstars to miss the 2025 NBA playoffs due to the Phoenix Suns’ deep smal 2024-25 regular season.
Despite having big threes from Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, the Suns finished the season with an Abyssmal 36-46 record, finishing 11th in the Western Conference.
After this overwhelming season, many have begun to question the place of slim leapers in the NBA debate of all time.
NBA legend Charles Barkley and Suns star Kevin Durant have shared a rocky relationship for many years. After all, Chuck has called for KD on multiple occasions, and the Sands star has not received much criticism.
Berkley returned with another brutal call directed at Durant as the NBA champions, twice as many times as they left the Golden State Warriors, claimed they had “flattered” in the playoffs multiple times.
“He’s not succeeding anywhere else except for the Warriors. I don’t hold it against him, but if you want to think he’s on that list, he’s not on that list.
“He’s a great player, but he’s not on that list in goat conversation.
Berkley then criticised Durant’s tenure with the Suns, saying, “You actually burned elsewhere and were wiped out in the playoffs last year. You didn’t play this year. That’s just a fact.”
Does that mean Berkley is stinting on KD warriors? The Hall of Fame denied that.
“I’m not holding that I haven’t won a championship against him. It’s a team game first and foremost, but you have to get some success.”
Barkley is known for his brutal callouts, but remains silent in constant silence to retire without winning the NBA championship in his 16-year career in the league.
Despite this, Barkley compared his career to Durant’s, reiterating his claim that he failed in the NBA and unable to compete for the goat debate.
“When my team in Philadelphia finally got out of there, I said, ‘Yo, man, I had to get out of here. I want to be competitive,” Berkley continued.
He concluded: “And in my first three years at Phoenix, we lost to the championship Michael (Jordan), and we lost to the Rocket.
For now, there are clouds of doubts in Durant’s future, as the 36-year-old part is reportedly interested in his service in a way with the franchise this offseason.
