As the playoffs progress, the league continues to hand out season-ending awards. On Tuesday, the NBA announced its first and second team All-Rookie classes for the 2024-25 season.

It was the Grizzlies who led the way with two players in the All-Rookie first team. Zack Edith and Jalen Wells were chosen for Memphis. This is the third time the Grizzlies have acquired two players, the All-Rookie First Team in franchise history. This happened between 2019 and 2020 at Ja Morant and Brandon Clarke.

This past season, the Grizzlies have finished 48-34 and had to compete in the play-in tournament. Memphis scored the eighth seed in the 2025 playoffs and was wiped out by the #1 seed of the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Grizzlies didn’t have the star power to compete with OKC in the postseason. But Memphis has found a player to build in the future. Two players were selected for the All-Rookie First Team from 2024-25.

It was Zack Eday and Jalen Wells. Edey was Memphis’ ninth overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. He was the two-time Nasmith Player of the Year at Purdue College. The 23-year-old played 66 of the Grizzlies’ 82 games and started 55. Most of his start was in the second half of the season. Edey led all rookies in field goal percentage and rebounds, at 8.3 per game. The rookie had 12 double doubles for Memphis.

Their second all-rookie first team selection was Jalen Wells. Not to mention Wells will reach the NBA, but also be selected as All-Rookie First Team. The 21-year-old was a Zero Star recruit who graduated from high school. He played two seasons for D2 Sonoma and transferred to Washington State from 2023-24. Wells was selected for Memphis’ 34th overall pick. He played 79 of 82 games this season, starting 74. The rookie averaged 10.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. He started the most of the rookies of this past season.
