Nate Diaz has already finished the Russian reality show he was filming with John Jones in Thailand.
The UFC veteran traveled there to film the Ultimate Fighter Type series he was coaching with Jones, but it didn’t take long for Mayhem to erupt. As a result, Diaz left the show and returned to California. Diaz’s longtime friend and teammate Jake Shields was also filming the show, so he documented the madness that happened before the production really started.
Additional sources were confirmed at the MMA fight on Wednesday, confirming that Diaz left the show and returned home after a crazy brawl broke out between show competitors and members of Diaz’s team.
Diaz’s representatives could not comment on the situation.
In a video posted to YouTube, Shields said the entire production had been confused since the first arrival in Thailand, but a real brawl broke out after one of the fighters became Diaz’s face during the introduction.
The video shield provided shows the Russian fighter first talking to Jones and then approaching Diaz. The fighter tried to grab Diaz, and Diaz seemed to immediately shrugged him.
The situation escalates after a while as Diaz and the fighter enter a physical altercation with the Shield, saying “Nate slapped him.” The altercation then completely erupts after members of Diaz’s team punch the fighter jet.
Instead of removing the Russian fighter from the show, Shields claims they were allowed to return to the same room where another brawl broke out. This time, Shields says he was involved and tackled the fighter who was first caught up in an argument with Diaz.
“I was smiled from the side as I started to come out towards him,” Shields said. “Not where the fighters were, a few guys were just starting to blitz me, and it looked like the crew they were working there.
“It was very clear to me that it was staff and workers. It was one of those moments where I would make the situation even more proliferated.”
After the brawl disbands, the Shields say “chaos” followed, which made the entire Diaz team decide to leave the show with the facility open.
Ultimately, Shields claims that the production team tried to find a way to get Diaz and his team back on the show, but at that point all involved are already checked out and ready to go home.
“Why are we going back and filming the show – it’s one thing to fight fighters. So I went out with Nate and thought there was a chance that some of these fighters could try to test him, but when you potentially hit you, it’s like no, f*ck,” Shields said.
A few days later, Diaz and his entire team returned to California, and the reality show experiment in Thailand suddenly ended.
