Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd shifts his focus from the infamous Luka Donsic trade.

Just a year after reaching the NBA Finals, the Dallas Mavericks came out of the 2025 postseason.

Apparently, general manager Nico Harrison, who trades Luka Doncic for the Los Angeles Lakers in the middle of the season, played a role in it.

In fact, the Don Chic trade was the biggest talk of the Mavericks season. But head coach Jason Kidd shifted his focus when he recently appeared on the DLLS Sports Podcast.

The Mavericks head coach appears to be hoping to sideline the negativity surrounding the Mavericks since Harrison’s decision to trade Don Sic.

Kidd currently has a rocky relationship with Luka, but the Mavs head coach is doing his best to praise other players on the roster.

“The group and coaching staff thought the players had an incredible job in the deal with injuries. That’s the way the next guy thinks,” Kidd said.

“The guys played very hard, they were the next guy and I thought they lost a bit of it in the season.

Williams was undoubtedly the best 47K that the team has spent this season as two-way deals were converted to standard contracts at the end of the regular season.

The 25-year-old averaged 8.3 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game for the Mavericks in 33 appearances.

Besides Williams, Kidd believes veteran forward Naji Marshall had a great season with his team. He emphasized that Marshall did anything he asked him when the team was in a recession.

“The two-way turn into an NBA deal and Naji Marshall started off small forward again, playing Power Forward, perhaps a small center, becoming our point guard,” Kidd continued.

He concluded: “There were a lot of positive stories. I realized that trade had taken away from the positives, but once again the guys played very hard.”

Despite Doncic’s deal, Mavericks has a reason to look forward to next season. The biggest reason behind this is the organization that lands the top pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Mavs is expected to choose Cooper Flag and launch a new era in Dallas. But is it enough for fans to just forget how Donsic was treated with brass on top? Only time can be seen.
