The finally got some good news about one of the injured starters. Currently there is no timeline for Tyler Glasnow and Blake Snell to return, but another staple of spinning is set to take a big first step in his recovery.

Manager Dave Roberts revealed this week that Saga Joki will begin throwing.
The placed Sasaki on the list injured in a right shoulder collision on May 13th. The rookie gave up five runs acquired, two walks, and threw a zero strikeout in four innings against Arizona Diamondback.
However, the right-hander has already dealt with shoulder issues and decided to push anyway so he could help the depleted rotate anyway.
Sasaki has an ERA of 4.42 with 24 strikeouts and a 1.485 whip in eight starts this season. The rookie has yet to find his rhythm in major league baseball, but he has made it clear that he plans to make the necessary improvements during his stint in the IL.
“I feel this is a good time to do that, so I want to make sure I’m fully healthy and be able to deal with what I had so that it leads to better performance,” Sasaki said.
When the signed Sasaki, they knew he wasn’t a finished product. Japan’s fireballs don’t look like they are yet, but time in Illinois may help Sasaki reorganize after he returns to the mound.
