Newcastle plans to sign a new centre-back this summer, with their main target being Crystal Palace captain Marc Guech. They desperately tried to sign England International last summer, but eventually left the negotiation table after rejecting four bids.
The final tickets are still available for the Champions League Finals!
But they’re back this summer. And given that they’ve been confirmed to be in the Champions League next season, there’s even more confidence they can make the deal. However, things could go just like in 2024.
Mark Guehe will open to join Newcastle this summer
According to Geordie Boot Boys, Graeme Bailey spoke about the situation. He revealed that Crystal Palace would be as difficult as Newcastle signing Gahee.
“What Newcastle’s Guehi remains – it never went away. Eddie Howe wanted him last summer. Last year they couldn’t agree to terms on the deal.
“He’s very calm. Yes, he’s open to leaving, but I know that once his contract expires, he could stay until next summer.
Guehi expects the Crystal Palace contract to expire in 2026. This means that a year will remain during the summer transfer period. This would suggest that Newcastle would be easier to sign him – especially at a significantly lower price – but this doesn’t seem to be the case. And there’s the 24-year-old’s stay as the FA Cup winner plays in Europe next season.
