However, another name facing much scrutiny is director Tom Thibodeau. Jalen Brunson wasn’t happy with this.

At a press conference, Jalen Brunson asked a reporter about the criticisms Tom Thibodeau and The Knicks get on a regular basis.
The reporter asked if he thought the Coachieves were the right guy to carry the Knicks in the future, and Branson was by his side.
“Is that the real question now? You asked me if I believe he is the right guy. Yes. Come on.”
Obviously, Jalen Brunson has a lot of respect for Tom Thibodeau and hopes he will become head coach. But that may not be up to him.

A report by Fred Katz and James L. Edwards for the Athletics reveals that Coach Thibodeau is well known to Branson and the Knicks, but owner James Dolan decides whether the coach will stick or not.
“The coach is supported by team president Leon Rose and league sources have a full buy-in from Branson, who signed the Knicks in 2022, part of what they wanted to play for Thibodeaux in 2022.
Dolan was a scapegoat for Knicks fans during his year as an overwhelming team. However, the Knicks have risen since hiring Leon Rose as team president, and Dolan has largely escaped criticism.
But if Dolan wants to maintain goodwill, he may have to remove Thibodeau and bring in a new head coach, potentially Michael Malone.
