According to multiple sources, Bayer Leberkusen has reached an agreement with Brentford on the proposed transfer of Mark Frecken. The fee that Bundesliga will pay for the service of the goalkeeper, who will turn 32 later this month, will be set at 10 million euros.
Flekken joined Brentford from SC Freiburg in 2023, making a total of 77 appearances on the bees, where he was able to hold 15 clean sheets. He has eight caps as Dutch International in his name, and usually serves as a backup option for Brighton and Hove Albion’s Bad Welbruggen.
Leverkusen’s captain Lukas Hradecky has only one year left on the contract, and given that he is 35, he is not guaranteed a stay at Bayarena beyond the summer of 2026. The club was expected to sign a new goalkeeper, but that’s clearly near.
Elemy Fripon reportedly sold to Liverpool and Florian Wiltz, but they set out for Anfield. However, the 26-year-old Ireland International is currently highly linked to Brentford’s replacement.
