Sean Strickland is often handled by the combat business.

The former UFC middleweight champion recently appeared on the stream featuring popular influencer Addin Ross, where the two discussed both fighting and non-combat-related topics. At one point, Strickland was asked about his finances, and he gave Ross an estimate of his value and hoping for what they would look like once the fight was over.

“My net worth is probably around $4 million,” Strickland said. “When I say liquid, I mean investment. I have about $500,000 in real estate and the rest is in different accounts.

“A worst-case scenario, by the time the fight is over, I have a net worth of probably $8 million. I can take that. I can make a withdrawal of about 5%. So a 5% withdrawal is $400,000.

There is no official record of how much salary Strickland has earned in his 11-year UFC career, but considering he’s 23 fights for promotions that include a title fight trio, it’s fair to say he’s one of the better compensated fighters on the roster. However, Strickland previously spoke out about UFC Fighter salaries, telling Daniel Cormier in May 2024 that “UFC doesn’t do the right thing” when it comes to contract negotiations.

While Strickland sounds like he’ll be comfortable living if he stops checking those fights, he’s not entirely sure whether he’ll remain part of the MMA community after retirement or pursue other benefits.

“I don’t know, I won’t stop,” Strickland said. “I like to work. What I say to people, after the fight where you got this big money, you broke your nose, you can’t fight, you wake up a bit, you ‘Would you make me happy?’ I have all the money I want, I’m doing the f*ck I want, and I’ve noticed that I’m the most unhappy, and I’m ‘Will I wake up and I’m going to make me happy?’

Strickland’s immediate challenge is to return to the winning column after suffering a disappointing loss in the championship rematch with Doricus du Plessis at UFC 312. The 34-year-old has not booked a fight at the moment.

“It was Kaio,” Strickland said. “These fights are the ones I personally know, I like because you have kids. He’s a really cool guy. He’s a really nice guy.
