The Minnesota Timberwolves are about to break through with Anthony Edwards.

Behind Anthony Edwards, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been running two Western Conference finals and are clearly one of the best teams in the NBA. The Wolves are firmly part of Edwards, the third number one pick they’ve built in the last 15 seasons.

Minnesota surrounded him with Karl Anthony Towns and Julius Randle, but adding more efficient scorers (and proven winners) around him seems to be the best course of action.

The Wolves are looking to add Kevin Durant before the trade deadline and are expected to chase him again this offseason, and adding him will cost him quite a bit, but will soon strengthen his chances for the title.

Durant, Edwards, and Rudy Gobert’s “Big 3” should work for important reasons. Durant and Edwards are both able to score from those around them, with Goat not ordering attention on the offense and instead serving as one of the greatest defenders in NBA history.

Unlike Durant’s past offensive “super teams” like the Brooklyn Nets and Phoenix Suns, the Wolves can maintain a defensively supported cast in town.

Complete mock trade details:

  • Timberwolves Receise: Kevin Durant
  • Suns Receive: Julius Randle, Terrence Shannon Jr., Mike Conley, 17th overall pick, 2028 pix swap

The Suns should be able to get the job done with a solid young player from Shannon Jr. and two picks and two expired contracts from Randle and Conley.

The Suns desperately need financial flexibility, and Randle, Conley and Bradley Beal will all become free agents in 2026.

With Durant in town, the Wolves have two elite scorers, as well as two-way role players such as Gobert perennial dpoty, Don Teddy Vincentso and Jayden McDaniels.

On paper, trade seems perfect, but can hinder wolves.

One of the best floor spaces in the NBA, backup center Naz Reid has a $15 million player option next season.

For the proposed trade to work, Randle must opt for his options, knowing that he will be traded with Phoenix, and Reid must explore and opt out of the free agency.

Reid is expected to pursue a big role and more money this offseason, and it was not thought that Minnesota would expect him to expect him to offer him along with teams like the La Lakers, the Detroit Pistons and the San Antonio Spurs.

Wolves can still compete without a lead, but he is an important part of the title’s hopes and has a solid core in place so swinging things for the superstar may not be the best idea, but Timberwolve has been a favorite of someone like never before.
