Former NFL defensive and mixed martial arts fighter Greg Hardy was arrested in Texas on Wednesday, June 4th. Jail records show Hardy was taken into custody around 2:29pm and remains behind the bar as a scheduled bond hearing Thursday morning awaits. Authorities have not released details regarding the suspected incident or the identities of the family involved.

Greg Hardy arrested

Hardy, 36, played in the NFL from 2010 to 2015, began his professional soccer career with the Carolina Panthers, drafted in the sixth round in 2010. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2013 after recording 13 sacks. In 2015, Hardy joined the Dallas Cowboys on a one-year contract.

His NFL career was confused by legal issues, particularly his arrest in 2014 for assaulting and threatening his then-girlfriend. Hardy was initially convicted, but the charges were later dismissed after the accuser failed to appear in court and civil settlement was reached. In 2016, Hardy was arrested in Dallas on suspicion of possession of cocaine.

Following his soccer career, Hardy moved to mixed martial arts. He won a contract with the UFC in 2018, competing in 13 battles, finishing with seven wins, five losses and one contest record. After leaving the UFC in 2022, Hardy continued to compete in combat sports, including professional boxing and naked knuckle fights. His latest match was in December 2024 when he was defeated by Russian boxer Alexei Papin in Moscow.

Greg Hardy’s career is characterized by both the outcomes of the movement and repeated legal troubles. As of Thursday, he remained in custody and no further details regarding the current claim have been made public. His representatives have not commented on the arrest. Following the Hardy bond hearing, this case is expected to be developed as more information becomes available.
