In episode 6 of Fan Cave Battlehost Jayrob returned to spotlight another round of elite fans living and breathing Blue. Not just through gear, but through stories, memories and spaces that represent decades of devotion.
We kicked things out in Utah. There, Scott Schroeder shared a fan cave built with a daughter of a generation. Since 1972, Scott has been following the faithfully. After moving to Utah in 2014, he and his daughter began chasing autographs over spring training, road trips and postseason.
result? A museum-worthy collection featuring 800 signed baseball, 150 signed jerseys, and All-Star bats signed by Clayton Carshaw and Yasmani Grandal. But the real highlight is bonding. Just like when Kershaw returned after signing 20 fans just to ensure Scott’s daughter got her signature. Legend.
Next, Casio Saverino of Peoria, Arizona brought history. Since 1963, Cassio’s collection is ‘ time capsules. From original yearbooks up to 1955 to pictures of Koufax on the giant sandy beach, La Solda’s signature, and even Koufax’s perfect game vinyl records, Casio’s Caves blend memorials, music and storytelling. When he met La Solda in person and asked who would pitch in Game 7 – Kershaw or Koufax – Tommy didn’t he: Koufax. Classic.
Then, Enrique Zimenez came and went home, representing from North Muskegon, Michigan. w. Born in California, Enrique crossed the ‘ pride across the state’s boundaries and with the help of his wife he built a fan cave underground. He converted to a true believer. Their caves are directly signed with pieces used in the game, signed photos and outstanding car show shadow box jerseys. The setup is clean, emotional and family-based. He won the crown in episode 6.
Finishing the episode was Cesar Garves of Conroe, Texas, who brought massive blue crew energy. The cave of Cesar, a former season ticket holder, is stacked up to the “Hasta la Muerte” spirit of true loyalty, with the bobblehead of the game he attended in person, the Vin Scully signed ball given by his mother, and the Houston-to-Arlington acquisition. He even framed his own Russell brand jersey. It has a uniform history, which is rare now.
But in the end, only one person was able to win.
This week’s Fancave Battle Champion? Enrique Zimenez.
His cave of underground fans, his story with his wife, and his beautiful Kersho work brought a complete package of deep running hearts, history, love, and deep running.
