Newcastle United are attempting to sign a quality goalkeeper this summer, identifying James Trafford as the target.
According to Sky Sports, they are now in discussions to sign the 22-year-old goalkeeper, with Burnley being supported by a fee of around £30 million.
Newcastle hopes to bring him this summer, and they hope he will compete with Nick Pope for the starting spot. It’s fair to assume he wants regular game time.
Trafford also rides Manchester United’s radar.
Newcastle can use goalkeepers
This is the pitch area that needs improvement. Newcastle needs to plan for the future, and signing one of the nation’s best young goalkeepers is a wise decision. Trafford scored 29 clean sheets in 45 games last season.
The 22-year-old was an exception in his championship with Burnley last season, and if the opportunity arises, he could be trying to join Newcastle. Trafford has been praised as “incredible” this past season.

Newcastle is one of the richest clubs in the world and has the resources to pay goalkeepers £30 million. He could justify his investment in the future. It is still unknown how the situation will develop.
Newcastle needs to improve their team if they want to do well in the Champions League next season. It’s no surprise that they need a better quality, deeper team and are enthusiastic about players like Trafford.
Burnley, meanwhile, has secured promotion to the Premier League and doesn’t want to lose a key player. However, Newcastle becomes an attractive destination for most players, with the resources to seduce Claret to sell players. It is still unclear whether the magpie will be able to quickly close the movement.
