It’s no secret that the Los Angeles had a terrible year in terms of pitching injuries.
The two staples in the starting rotation, Tyler Grasnow and Blakesnell, are on the 60-day injury list this season, so they’re pairing the seven starts this season.
Luckily, manager Dave Roberts had a promising update for the All-Star pair when he returned to the mound.

“Tyler threw today,” Roberts said Tuesday. “It really encouraged me by his bullpen in Los Angeles. Blake threw here today. It really encouraged me. Yeah, you can start watching us reach the other side. I look forward to it.”
Both All-Stars are on the shelf due to shoulder inflammation. Snell was able to convene two starts in the uniform as Glasnow went five before he could move the injury away from the mound.
Pitching coach Mark Pryor also spoke about the updates he saw from his injured pitcher.
“It was great to see today’s break living before us. His arms look free and easy, perhaps the first time all year long,” said Tuesday. “(Glasnow) feels really good and the ball is really good.
“Snell will certainly throw another bullpen. We’ll wrap our heads around a glass and try to see what the next seven or ten days will look like and see what that progression will look like.”
Long-term pitching health is at the forefront of the coaching staff’s mind when working in a spinning group. The two pitchers are welcome whenever available, but instead of putting a few risks at the start of the regular season, the team is playing to ensure they are healthy in October.
Glasnow pitched 134 innings last season. Elbow end tendinitis then closed him in August. Snell is a two-time Cy Young Award recipient and is a much better pitcher later this year.
If these two can play Best Baseball of the Year, the stakes are the best stakes, then the missed start that will steadily add up to the regular season will soon be forgotten.
