Les United is currently taking an approach to signing defenders, a “pure class,” and according to reporter Ben Jacobs, he could be available for just £5 million.
Leeds is focusing on new defenders amidst Firpo’s uncertainty
Junior Furpo played a key role in the Whites promotion, collecting four goals and 10 assists in 32 championship games, but it is possible that the left back is heading towards the exit door amid the wider link with La Liga Side Real Betis.
Firpo can have a real impact from an offensive standpoint, but former Leeds man Paul Robinson believes that leaving the defender may be the right decision this summer, given his previous struggles on top flights.
Robinson said: “Firpo, I’m concerned. I think he was good in the championships. But some players, the championships were on their level and before he was exposed defensively, he had no positions and targeted goals, and I think the team was doing too much for him.”
In the Premier League, Daniel Fark’s side may have to be a little more practical than last season. That is, managers want to bring in a new defensively solid new left back, rather than a moving forward threat.
According to Jacobs, with the X update, Leeds is currently taking an approach to signing Aston Villa’s Alex Moreno and submitting an investigation into the left-back contract, which has also attracted interest from Burnley and the unknown La Liga club.
Moreno’s villa contract is set to expire in 2026, making him an affordable option for championship title winners this summer.

“Pure Class” Moreno was impressed with Nottingham Forest Loan
Considered a surplus to the requirements by Unai Emery, the defender was loaned to Nottingham Forest last season, allowing the Spaniards to be impressed at times.
Clark has also been added: “When he signed, I confess I was unsure about his hamstring history, but so far it has not had any negative effects. Moreno is now established on the left side of the team, at least 7/10 in all games.”
That said, the 32-year-old, who has the same agent as Iranian Mesuriye, did not play a prominent role as the season continued. It is often left on the bench by Nuno.
So, while there is doubt as to whether Moreno is worth signing Leeds, he could be an upgrade to FIRPO from a defensive standpoint, which surpassed left-back in some key metrics over the past year.
