The European elite domestic leagues may have just seen their campaigns approaching their end two weeks ago, but there is no time to rest as teams from around the world will be running the FIFA Club World Cup this weekend.

With the new look format, FIFA is doing within all its powers to portray this summer’s tournament as one of the most lucrative awards in soccer in the world.

It’ll be hard to find a European superstar who doesn’t sit on the beach enjoying a well-earned break, but everyone travels to the US, where they try to prove themselves ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

This summer’s Club World Cup, which has already seen the Premier League giants break banks over the past few weeks, is also a great opportunity for these new employees to skip their careers.

Rayan Cherki-Manchester City

Seeing Kevin De Bruin’s iconic decade spell at Etihad approached an emotional end last month, it’s no secret that Pep Guardiola had more playmaking reinforcements at the top of his summer wish list.

Manchester City has significantly concluded its 2024/25 campaign without showing one silverware at a time for Manchester City to show up for trouble, as they travel to the United States desperately to reestablish itself as one of the European elites.

With already beating the bank this summer and revealing that the former Barcelona boss will be heavily supported by the Etihad hierarchy, new recruit Rayan Cherki is about to advance the post-Bruin era in an early statement.

The city’s £30 million acquisition is considered a huge bargain as Guardiola’s side officially announced the arrival of the 21 year old at the beginning of the week.

Taking advantage of Lyon’s public financial struggle behind the scenes, Cerki made his senior French debut this year, and is widely credited as one of the hottest young offensive starlets on the continent.

Scherki, who led Lyon’s accusations for the Europa League semi-finals and has already appeared in French outfits 200 times, also registered 19 direct goal contributions in 30 League One matchups last season.

Liam Dellup – Chelsea

Senegale Marksman Nicholas Jackson may have only put the pen from the Bumper New Deal at Stamford Bridge on paper last year, but Enzo Marexa has made it clear that the new number nine is his number one priority this summer.

Chelsea may have been dragged into a lucrative Champions League return and ended the 2024/25 campaign as the winner of the Europa Congress League, but they struggled to find a lot of liquidity in their final third year of the year.

Amulet Cole Palmer has only recorded an AA Singles Premier League strike since mid-January, and fans around West London have made it clear that natural scorers are essential this summer.

Having caused Liam Delap’s £30 million release clause last week and dodged the fierce competition from historic rival Manchester United, Maresca managed to win the number one target through the door.

Ipswich may not have maintained their Premier League status last season, but they fell into an immediate championship return, allowing England U21 International to enjoy a stellar maiden campaign among the English elite.

The 22-year-old signed a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge last week, and the former Manchester City youngster scored 12 Premier League goals for Ipswich last season, showing why he wasn’t short on heavyweight admiration this summer.

Jeremy Fripon – Liverpool

Liverpool may still be waiting for the official German sense to win the Anfield door following record-breaking negotiations with Bayer Leberkusen, but Arne Slot’s side has already snatched one talisman from the former Bundesliga champion.

Watching academy alumni and British International Trent Alexander Arnold complete the controversial free switch to the Spanish icon this week, it appears that an actual fullback overhaul is taking place in the red half of Merseyside.

The real-life Premier League champions may be in talks over Bournemouth’s Milosquerquez’s move, but they officially announced that Jeremy Fripon has arrived in a deal reportedly of just £29.5 million.

The 24-year-old, widely seen as a long-term successor to Alexander Arnold, has received a string of praise from around the world over the past few years and is considered one of Europe’s best fullbacks.

In 2023-24, Lebakusen won his first Bundesliga title and earned a reputation for his versatility and ability to take part in the offensive in the essential role of Frimon in the final third, earning 53 appearances in all competitions that finished second in 24-25.
