Liverpool is reportedly interested in signing Newcastle United attacker Anthony Gordon during the summer window.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, they are ready to make another big name move after signing Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. They are expected to pay a club record of around £100 million to sign German International, and are now ready to beat the bank again for Gordon.
A recent report claims he could cost around £705 million.
Liverpool wanted him last summer
The Newcastle attacker reportedly is on his wish list and had a discussion last summer to sign him. It will be interesting to see if they can convince Newcastle to sell the players. The 24-year-old could prove to be a great long-term acquisition.
As Gordon is a Liverpool fan as a boy, it shouldn’t be too difficult to convince him to join the club.
Will Anthony Gordon trade Lewis Diaz?
Lewis Diaz is linked to travelling from the club, and Liverpool is looking to bring Gordon as a potential replacement.
There is uncertainty about the future of Colombians. He is happy with the Premier League club, but Barcelona is keen on him this summer. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool has decided to sell players and replace them with Gordon in the coming weeks.
The Newcastle attacker has proven himself in the Premier League and is undoubtedly enough to make him play for the biggest club in the country. If they can get the deal done, he could become an asset for Liverpool. He adds goals, creativity and pace aside.
Newcastle has secured qualifying for the Champions League next season, and they aim to build a team that can regularly compete for key trophies. It may not be acceptable to them to sell one of their best attackers this summer. How Liverpool will convince them remains to be seen.
