Aston Villa reportedly could become one of the clubs to watch in the race for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho’s transfer this summer.
The 25-year-old just came to the end of Chelsea’s loan spell, and Bruce finally decided to keep him forever.
That leaves Man Utd behind to try and offload him again this summer, and according to United In Focus, he appears to have a lot of interest.
Journalist Graeme Bailey spoke with a focus on United to discuss Sancho’s future and naming the Villa as one team that could make him enthusiastic.
Sancho also seems to be interested in Saudi Arabia, but for now he prefers to stay in Europe.
Jadon Sancho appears as an Aston Villa Transfer Target
“The situation for Sancho is clear. Like the situation at Rashford, Old Trafford has little future for him. That’s clear from both sides,” Bailey explained.
“United wanted to join Chelsea just to sleep through the entire scenario, but his reluctance to lower wages meant that travelling to Stamford Bridge was not possible.
“But Sancho’s camp does their job with options. Borussia Dortmund wants to get him back. They want to take him to a similar deal with Chelsea, but they need to unite to contribute to wages, which is a problem in that United are willing to swallow.
“There are options for Saudi Arabian professional leagues elsewhere, but Sancho hopes to remain in Europe at this point.
“And there’s a real interest in the UK. I’m told that one of the clubs open to Sancho’s potential moves is the Villa. I managed to get a loan with Rashford and Asensio last season.
Is Jadon Sancho a good option for Aston Villa?
Sancho is a great talent at his time, as he showed two spells at Borussia Dortmund, but it’s clear he’s never found his feet at the Premier League level.
Still, Villa Manager Unai Emery is doing well to get players back to their best.
Sancho may be gambling worth the Villa, but he imagines that his expensive wage demands, which he believes could become an issue again, could become an issue.
