Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is reportedly working to convince Brentford right winger Brian Mbeumo to join the club.
Onana appears to be talking to his fellow Cameroon International about a potential move to Old Trafford, in interest from both Man Utd and Tottenham.
It says the Spurs continue to pursue Mbeumo aggressively, according to a report from Manchester Evening News.
The Daily Mirror reports that Tottenham has placed a £700 million bid on Mbeumo, and imagines there may be a slight edge after appointing Thomas Frank as manager.
Frank will know Mbeumo along with him at Brentford, but the Spurs, who have Champions League football, certainly won’t do anything harm.
From Brian Mbeumo to Manchester United or Tottenham?
It will be interesting to see if Onana can help her unite here.
The former Milan and Ajax keeper were not particularly impressive in his form on the pitch, often acknowledging soft goals and committed famous individual errors.
However, Onana is clearly keen to do his bit for United, and fans will be grateful to him if they can help bring Mbeumo into the event.
Mbeumo has achieved a big move
Mbeumo was outstanding for Brentford in the season, offering 23 goals and 8 assists in all competitions.
The 25-year-old looks like he’s just entering his peak, which means that it’s an important transfer window for him.
Both United and Spurs were so poor last season that both moves look a bit like a gamble, even if these two shortages turn things around before they’re certainly too long.
Frank’s arrival as Tottenham’s manager looks like a great plan, but Reuben Amorim should be heading for the better after a full season and a new signature of his own.
It will be interesting to see which is the most attractive option for Mbeumo.
