The San Francisco Giants, the main rival of the in Los Angeles, traded for Boston Red Sox star Rafael Dever on Sunday.
The prices the Giants gave up for Devers were Southpaw Kyle Harrison, right-handed Jordan Hicks, outfield prospect James Tibbs and minor league right-handed Jose Bello.
The trade happened about 20 minutes before the Giants completed a three-game series with the , with San Francisco set to take the mound against their divisional rivals. The southpaw must be replaced by Sean Fugel just before the first pitch is thrown.

utility star Tommy Edman spoke about the gravity of the trade and how the Giants’ scheduled starters were shipped to Boston just before they headed to the hill.
“It was crazy,” Edman said. “We don’t expect such a deal at this time, and we just get a pitching change at the last moment.”
Devers is currently a hit with an opening of .272 at 0.905. His OPS+ 152 ranks 52% higher than the average qualified batsman this season. The designated batsman is walking through the American League at 56.
As a designated batsman, Devers’ position was the point of his contest with his former team.
After Boston signed 3 base Alex Bregman this offseason, Devers, who started his 942 career with 3 base, was told he would become the designated batsman for the Red Sox to move forward. The Divers refused when Boston’s first baseman, Triston Casus, suffered a season-ending injury and the team asked Devers to ramp up to replace Casus first.
Devers expressed indifference to the potential moves last month, causing great tension between him and the organization. All the combined details make trade much more shocking, but nothing changes the fact that the bitter North rival now has a deadly power bat.
The head to San Francisco and play a three-game set on July 13th as the final series before the All-Star Break.
