Kamal Usman is back!
Nearly two years on the shelf, Nigerian Nightmare returned to the UFC Atlanta Octagon, performing vintage, knocking Joaquin Buckley at hand and snapping Skid, losing three games.
Returning to the victory column is no easy task for a man staring at the infamous knee, 25 career fights and 40 spinning barrels. But that wasn’t anything.
“The battle was never over, meaning it was never over,” Usman said in a postwar interview. “It’s a mountain you have to climb every time you get back there. It’s difficult to get there. I know people are watching at home. To get there, you have to respect all the fighters willing to bring it to life to bring it to life.
“But every time you come here, you’re going to fight it. That’s what I’m doing. It’s not just the champions, it’s not just awakening the champions. You have to build yourself to be a champion. Like I said, I have a great support system.
Kamal Usman is here for all the money
With the victory over Buckley, Usman is back in welterweight title photos once again, aiming for the winner of Jack Della Madalena vs. Islamic Makhachev.
If he succeeds in regaining the 170-pound crown, it sounds like “Nigerian Nightmare” is already planning to conquer another weight class.
