Everton is strongly linked to Manchester City’s right-back Kyle Walker’s move, but another Premier League player is also considered an option.
Bruce is about to seal Walker’s attention-grabbing signature this summer. The 35-year-old is allowed to leave City after the legendary stint in which he won six Premier League titles.
Walker may not be an old player, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t yet delivered, and Everton will see him as an upgrade to Ashley Young, who will also see him as a winning mentality and a huge amount of experience at the top level.
The fact that David Moet reportedly approved the communication is also good, and managers need to have a big say in the transfer business that will be happening with the club this summer.
For now, despite interest from other clubs, Walker appears likely to complete his move to Everton, but different targets should also be considered in case the move does not occur. Now, as a potential addition to Mersey Cider, a new name has been thrown into the hat.
Everton focuses on “underrated” Walker alternatives
According to GuardianEverton is also interested in signing Fulham’s right-back Kenny Tete, with Jamie Jackson and Will Aubin, if they decide not to sign a deal with Walker.
The 29-year-old became a free agent later this month, with deals at Craven Cottage expired and mentioned as a Bruce option, similar to West Ham’s Vladimir Kufal and Southampton’s Kyle Walkerpeter.
Tete, the 14-cap Dutch International, may not be as famous or explosive as Walker, but he is six years younger and could be a sharp signature by Everton.
“I also love the way they defend. I think Kenny Tete is another guy who is often underrated. He’s not doing a half-good job. He’s a good defender and is steady to the ball, I think he was overlooked last year.
