Ducati teased the special colouring that Italian MotoGP will wear this weekend for Francesco Bagnaia and championship leader Mark Marquez’s factory bikes.
Mark Marquez arrived at Muguero and won the sixth victory from the famous 10-row run to open his second MotoGP season in 2014, but earned Alex Marquez a 32-point championship lead.
The Mugello MotoGP race was won by factory Ducati rider Francesco Bagnaia over the past three years. The Italians won both sprints and were held at the Tuscan venue.
Those winning streaks include last year’s Italian Grand Prix. At the Grand Prix, Bagnaia, then-Teammate Enea Bastianini, and the entire Ducati Renovo team were dressed in blue clothing from the Italian National Sports Team ahead of the 2024 UEFA European Championship and the Olympic Games.
This year, Ducati Lenovo teams can get different inspiration (at least thanks to the lack of major international sports competitions from this summer’s schedule).
No images of the colouring have been released yet. These will likely wait until Saturday evening or Sunday morning, but Ducati has posted a teaser video on its social media page.
“Italian excellence made with art and ingenuity,” captioned the video.
“The Renaissance genius and Ducati vision blend into a one-off tribute. On June 22nd, Mark (Marquez) and Pecco (Francesco Bagnaia) will become modern knights running through history in a special colour inspired by the Renaissance cradle.
“Leonardo. Machiavelli. Their souls. Two visions. Now they have been reborn in the form of races.
However, even in the Renaissance it appears that it cannot escape the claws of green monsters.
