"He's on the Dallas list" ... The Mavericks are considering signing the Washington Wizard Point Guard as a free agent

The Dallas Mavericks will actively hunt point guards ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season.

It’s not surprising as Luka Doncic is expected to trade with the Los Angeles Lakers and Kyrie Irving will miss most of the season due to the ACL torn.

After all, without a talented point guard, the Dallas Mavericks shouldn’t expect to be as successful in a loaded Western Conference.

If Maverick is serious about signing a new point guard, it’s a good place to see the top 50 free agents in the offseason.

After all, this list is full of talented PGs that will help you improve your organization. But it appears that Mavs already has a target in their minds.

According to NBA insider Ian Begley, Washington Wizards point guard Malcolm Brogdon is on the team’s list.

“It would be a bit surprising if he were the one who looked at in the role of backup point guard.

“Dallas clearly needs a point guard where Kyrie Irving is rehabilitating from surgery. I don’t know if he’s at the top of Dallas’s list or somewhere in the middle, but he’s there, Blogdon.

“Mavs is going to decide on a lot of that point guard move,” he added.

During the 2024-25 NBA season, MAV was stabbed by an injury bug throughout the campaign. Even at the end of the season, Anthony Davis suffered yet another injury.

Coming to Blogdon, he played 24 games for the Wizard this season. In these matches, the veteran guard averaged 12.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.

Brogdon’s numbers are decent for backup guards, but the nine-year NBA veteran has a long history of injuries.

In the 2024-25 season alone, Brogdon missed 58 games due to six different injuries. Additionally, over the past five seasons, the 32-year-old has played 60 games only once.

Therefore, the Mavericks front office should compare the pros and cons that could potentially sign the 2025-26 season with the roster.
