Finding the right head coach is easier than ever, and the New York Knicks have been experiencing it after firing Tom Thibodeau.

Tom Thibodeau was released from duties by the New York Knicks despite helping the organization reach the Eastern Conference Finals.

Coach Thibodeau’s firing comes in light of the Knicks’ humiliating defeat at the hands of the Indiana Pacers.

There are several potential candidates to replace Thibodeau as the Knicks’ next head coach, but ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins believes there is only one coach who can fit in.

Coaching the Knicks is not everyone’s tea as it is home to the most passionate NBA fans. As a result, Perkins is not a Knicks fan targeting Taylor Jenkins, Mike Brown or Michael Malone.

Instead, he urged the franchise to retake Jeff Van Gandy, who had already served as the team’s head coach for seven seasons.

“We have to upgrade. We can’t fire the tib and retreat. Suddenly, we’re talking about an interview with Taylor Jenkins and Mike Brown.

He added:

“I don’t know either. But now the only coach for me is Jeff Vangundy. Bring Jeff Vangundy back.”

For context, during Vanguardy’s first stint with the Knicks, he led to a 420-248 record over seven seasons.

This included a run to the 1999 NBA Finals, where the Knicks were in a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the San Antonio Spurs.

Over the past five seasons, the Knicks have changed from a mediocre team to a championship contender under Coach Thibodeau.

It was a shame they lost to the Pacers in the ECF, but Perkins believes the Knicks rushed to Thibodeau, the coach of the kom.

“When they finished the run like they did in the Eastern Conference Finals, they felt they should beat the Pacers, it gives off emotions,” Perkins continued.

Additionally, Big Perk pointed out Knicks’ mistakes in the hiring process to replace Thibs.

“They should have taken at least a week or so and even started interviewing people.

Knicks fans are restless, so it’s hard to resist Perkins about this. The fanbase responded ironically to Imedoka signing the extension with the Houston Rockets, claiming that the Knicks led to the decision.
