This year has been a busy summer for Chelsea so far.

Instead of enjoying the holidays and preparing for the intense Premier League campaign next season, the Blues are playing corners at the Club World Cup.

Enzo Maresca’s men may have stumbled somewhat on Flamengo on Friday, but in a short time on Wednesday morning they bouncing off in a 3-0 victory over Es Tunis.

More importantly, the game saw Liam open a club account for the summer signing. If recent reports are believed, the club may be seeing someone who will become a great British teammate.

As Chelsea are looking to improve their fourth-place finish in the Premier League next season, it’s not a surprise to see them linking to a number of offensive stars in recent weeks, including Hugo Ekitike and Victor Osimhen.

The former has reportedly scored 34 goal involvement tallies in 48 matches this season, at £84 million, while the latter has scored 45 goals involvement in 41 games, costing around £60 million.

But it’s great for the Bruce, and unlike Alejandro Garnacho, it would be hard to describe either of the potential arrivals as good news for Delap.

Yes, a recent report from The Telegraph shows that Chelsea could still push to sign the Manchester United star this summer.

The report argues that West Londoners are now “assessing the possibilities” while signing Argentina International and sending Christopher Nukank backwards in a swap deal.

The report claims that pairs moving in the opposite direction are treated as separate transactions, so it’s called “a kind of” swap transaction. This means the Red Devils will have to pay a winger that will increase its value for £60 million.

It could be a complicated and expensive move to get past the line, but given Garnacho’s potential and abilities, it might be worth pursuing, especially as he could be a great signing for Delap.

Why Garnacho is a great signing for Delap

Well, there are two main reasons why Garnacho can become a teammate with Delap’s great signature at Chelsea, and initially relates to his output.

United Ace is far from being a finished product and can be a bit frustrating at times, but his raw output is actually quite impressive, especially for someone at his age.

For example, in 58 appearances this season, in a total of 3,568 minutes, the “generation” talent called Statman Dave has scored 11 goals and managed to provide 10 assists to the rather garbage red Devils side.

This averages goal involvement per 2.76 games, or participates in one game every 169.90 minutes.

So imagine how effective the former Ipswich town gems are with someone who can create those numbers on his dysfunctional team to his left.

The second reason why the Madrid-born ace is a great teammate for the British is that he is also a young, developing player, so in theory, I hope they will develop into each other, learn each other’s games, reach their peaks at about the same time, and help the whole team.

Ultimately, signing Garnacho may not be a popular decision from the start, but he can thrive in the right environment and shows that he can be an exceptional player, an exciting and capable striker like Dellup next to him.
