Joshua Van: 'Three Weeks Is Plenty' - Why Short Notice Fights Keep Me Sharp

Three weeks? no problem. That’s the motto Joshua Van sings this week as he heads out for his second High Stakes battle in 21 days.

After offering a highlight reel finish against Bruno Silva at UFC 316 in New Jersey, Van will be active this Saturday when he finishes International Fight Week with a Las Vegas UFC 317 card. There, “Fearless” will try to extend his unbeaten streak to five when he faces the ever-risking Bradon Roybal.

When asked about having such a big fight to prepare in just three weeks, Van scoffed at the idea that it was a short time that he had returned to the octagon.

“Is that a short battle? I say three weeks is enough time,” Van told reporters at UFC 317 Media Day on Wednesday. “I scream to Brandon for giving me the opportunity to fight him, I like this kind of schedule.

Low risk and high reward for Joshuavan at UFC 317

Fighting the “raw daug” is a tall order, but whether it takes 3 weeks or 6 months to prepare, the van was simply an opportunity that could not cross.

As it stands, Van is the 12th place competitor in the flyweight division, while Loibal sits all the way up on the top of the ladder, taking the number one spot. If Van can pull off another impressive performance, he will surge in the rankings and place him in pole position to face the winner of the UFC’s 317 co-main event crash between 125 pound title holders Alexandre Pantoja and Kai Kara France.

It is a low-risk, high-reward situation for Myanmar stars.
