Colorado Springs, CO – Padraig Harrington’s video discussing with NBC oncourse reporter Roger Multby for not helping to find the ball lost during the opening round, is creating buzz at the senior open in the US.
“We don’t get into the stands on a golf course or see people looking for a golf ball,” Harrington told Maltby in a video filmed by a local television reporter outside the scoring area. “You played golf for the rest of your life. You understand.”
The argument came from Thursday’s round when Harrington tees into a tree bush on the 15th hole. After about three minutes of people failed in the allowed three minutes, Harrington returned to the teebox for his third shot. He ended up saving Bogie and went on a weekend tied up for the lead.
Maltbie, a long-time on-course reporter who played on the PGA Tour in the 1970s and ’80s, was in the area. He told Golf.com on Saturday that he was asked to report on the scenario and that he was unable to leave his job to help with the search.
The day after the episode, Harrington and Maltby aired the differences near the scoring area.
Maltby can be heard telling Harrington, “Do you have to follow the producer?”
In an interview with Golf.com, he said: “I’m saying, “All these checks I got from NBC, your name isn’t in any of them.”
